The latest video released as part of Svoboda zvířat’s campaign carries a horror-inspired tone, evoking the fear and suffocating atmosphere of norování (digging out).
Digging out (Norování) is an outdated and extremely cruel method of hunting animals that live in dens - most often foxes, badgers, or raccoon dogs. A hunting dog is sent into the den to try to drive the animal out.
Often, a life-and-death struggle ensues, because the animal has young in the den that it refuses to abandon. The film aims to portray this sense of helplessness, when the main character becomes possessed in a horror-like narrative and invades his own home from within, threatening the lives of everyone there.
The campaign spot features influencer Tereza Hodanová and renowned actors Jan Hájek and Veronika Čermáková. It was directed by Matyáš Fára, with concept and script co-developed by Jolana Haismanová, who also leads social media strategy at Svoboda zvířat.
“With this campaign video, we wanted to show just how outdated, terrifying, and inhumane this practice truly is,” says Haismanová.
“Director Matyáš Fára managed to weave in a subtle but powerful parallel - the unimaginable fear animals must feel when norování invades the safety of their own home.”
The campaign is supported by numerous public figures and experts - including the Czech Union for Nature Conservation, who back the call for a ban on this outdated and violent method
